MEET THE GALS

CO FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ~ ELLEN PATTERSON

Originally an Edinburgh gal, Ellen has trodden the Edinburgh Fringe boards many times, most recently with the feminist powerhouse that is Maddie Ross and Girl Code Theatre's award-winning 'Coming  Home With Me.' Ellen moved to London after leaving Ireland and graduated from Rose Bruford in 2019. Alongside work on stage and screen, Ellen has never been far from a fight for womxn's rights.

Working with Theatre Delicatessen Broadgate, Ellen produced and directed V-DAY Deli in 2018, an abridged version of The Vagina Monologues in aid of Women's Trust and 1 Billion Rising. In 2019 Ellen, with a lot of help from the glorious REEK perfume, founded and produced Eilean nam Ban, holding two exhibitions celebrating the extraordinary lives of ordinary womxn through art in aid of womxn's charities. Hanging up her curator hat for now, Ellen works for the National Domestic Abuse Helpline.

CO -FOUNDER AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR ~ KATIE RICE

WhatsApp%20Image%202020-03-14%20at%2012.

Raised wildly in Athens for over 10 years, then transported to the rather chilled fields of Kent, Katie has a passion for all things drama and gal. After leaving Trinity, she worked in production at Scorch as a production assistant and assistant casting producer. Katie then graduated from East15 Acting School with a Masters in Acting in 2019.

Having worked across theatre and screen, Katie began to get frustrated at the gender roles she was being assigned to. With a Masters in English literature, Katie is a firm believer of how language impacts social constructs and expectations and has a frustration with the lack of womxn represented in society. So she founded a theatre company called SYCORAX and, with talented colleagues, producer and co-wrote a play called 'Obsolete Tomfoolery' focusing on Helen Duncan (the last 'witch' to be killed in England.) She is now determined to produce and write work that will represent womxn. And to let out some of this frustration Katie teaches power yoga to re-gain that 'zen.'
